Libby Robbins, LCSW, Ph.D. is a mental health professional who works with children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in play therapy, with a sub-specialty in the treatment of toileting disorders. Dr. Robbins also works with children with anxiety, mood disorders, behavior problems, ADHD, and selective mutism. She sees adults with anxiety and depression in individual therapy, and provides consultations to parents who are raising challenging children.
Dr. Robbins began her career as a special education teacher. She received her Masters degree in special education from Columbia University in 1981, and taught in a therapeutic nursery school for children with mental health disorders. After raising her own children, Dr. Robbins earned a Masters of Social Work degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in 1997, and completed her doctoral degree at the Clinical Social Work Institute in Washington, D.C. in 2009. After working at The Child and Family Counseling Group in Fairfax, Virginia for 18 years, Dr. Robbins opened a private practice in her home in Oak Hill, Virginia, where she currently practices.
